Medical

Medical Practitioners from the local Medical Clinic Millicent consult on a weekly basis. If a current medical practitioner is not available to offer services at the facility, staff liaise with the medical clinic and resident to obtain access to a visiting practitioner. The facility will also liaise with other external professional services, in consultation with residents and their representatives, to access additional services. These may include Medical Specialists, Dentists, Speech Pathologists, Audiologists, Optometrists, Dieticians and Occupational Therapists.

Physiotherapy

A fully qualified physiotherapist visits for two days each week and regularly assesses each resident. A program is developed on admission to maximise functional ability and manage any identified pain and this is carried out by our trained physiotherapy aides and registered nurses. There are also exercise classes three times a week and Tai Chi on Thursdays.

Allied Health

Podiatry services are provided by myPod Podiatry who visit monthly.

Audiology services are provided on a regular basis.

Eye-visit Optometry  visit monthly and provide services to both facility and residents.

Lifestyle Activities

Our Lifestyle & Leisure Coordinator has an activity filled monthly calendar planned for residents to participate in if they so choose. These include a weekly sing-a-long, bingo, cooking, knitting and movies, to name but a few.

Church

The facility has a multi-denominational chapel available to all residents. Church services are coordinated by Millicent congregations and are held on Tuesday mornings and fornightly on a Sunday evening.

Hairdresser

Our hairdressing salon is open Mondays and Fridays for cuts, colours, blow waves, etc. Residents can have regular, ongoing bookings or see staff to make one off reservations. Payment can be made on the day or an account can be set up with the hairdresser.

Laundry

Residents’ personal clothing is collected daily and laundered on site. All clothing must be labeled and this is arranged on admission. The facility provides all bed and bathroom linen and arranges laundering weekly or when needed.

Meals

Residents of Mary Cecelia Hart Court are provided nutritious, varied meals with individual needs and special diets catered for. On their birthdays, residents are treated to a birthday cake and invited to ask two guests to dine with them. Delicious morning and afternoon teas and suppers are also offered daily.

Café la Fromelles

Our coffee shop is at the heart of the hostel. Run by a dedicated band of volunteers, it is open Wednesday through to Sunday for morning and afternoon teas and lunches. It is also the venue for numerous celebrations to mark residents’ milestones.
