Independent Living Units

Independent Living Units

The Independent Living Units at Boneham Aged Care Services are located in a village setting and provide secure, affordable housing to older people to allow them to live independently.

The 20 cottages provide residents with the following benefits:

  • Independence
  • Security
  • Comfort
  • Companionship
  • Central location within the town

The rental cottages are self-contained and each one consists of one or two bedrooms with bathroom, lounge, kitchen, laundry and front and rear porches. Each unit has floor coverings and blinds fitted. The furnishing of cottages is the resident’s own responsibility, as is insurance of personal possessions. The two bedroom cottages have a carport under the main roof.

Cottage residents are invited, from time to time to become involved in activities and functions at Mary Cecelia Hart Court. A resident forum meeting is held twice yearly and cottage residents are encouraged to attend.

Cottage residents are able to access any community services they may have previously had in their own home. These services include Community Health, Meals on Wheels, etc.

The cottages are classified as Independent living and as such, a resident must be capable of caring for themself. To align with the intended demographics of the cottages, new residents must agree to abide by the residence rules and be over the age of 55 and retired from full-time employment.

All cottages are charged a standard fortnightly rental. This covers the maintenance of the property and surrounding grounds, Council and water rates.

Residents may be eligible to claim Rental Assistance from Centrelink. This assistance is paid directly to the resident to offset their rental costs.
